Introduction to the composition and maintenance of zippers

A zipper consists of interlocking teeth, a slider, and stoppers (front and back) or a locking device. The teeth are the key component, directly determining the zipper's lateral tensile strength. Generally, a zipper has two tapes, each with a row of teeth, which interlock. The slider holds the two sides of the teeth, and by sliding the pull tab, the teeth can be engaged or disengaged.

Zipper It consists of chain teeth, sliders, stoppers (front and rear) or fasteners, etc. Among them, the chain teeth are the key part, which directly determines the side pulling strength of the zipper. Generally, a zipper has two chain tapes, each with a row of chain teeth, and the two rows of chain teeth are arranged alternately. The slider holds the chain teeth on both sides, and with the help of the pull tab sliding, the chain teeth on both sides can be engaged or disengaged.

Maintenance methods

1. During normal use, pay attention to whether there are any problems such as "broken belly", "missing teeth", or skewness on the zipper. If there are such problems, repair them in time and do not force them. If the zipper is loose and the teeth are missing, you can gently tap the zipper head with a small hammer a few times to make the upper and lower teeth bite tighter, so that the teeth will not come off again.

2. Aluminum alloy zippers are more susceptible to corrosion, so they should be kept dry and avoid moisture to prevent the aluminum teeth from generating white oxides, which will eventually cause the zipper to rust and affect its use. Also, avoid contact with alkaline and acidic substances. During storage, ensure adequate ventilation, do not seal it, and do not store it in a humid environment. If necessary, use moisture-proof paper or desiccant. If the zipper is damp and feels stiff when pulled, first sun it, then apply some wax to the zipper teeth, and melt it with fire. Then it will be very smooth to use.

3. When pulling the zipper, first align the teeth on both sides, then hold the zipper head and gently pull it forward along the track. Do not pull it hard to avoid "teeth skewing", "broken belly", and "missing teeth". If the zipper is stiff and not flexible, you can wipe it clean with a cloth and then apply a layer of white wax to the "teeth".

4. Various bags, pockets, or wallets with zippers should not be overfilled, otherwise it is easy to cause the zipper to "break belly", "missing teeth", skewness, and soft fabric.
